We are looking for a Subcontractor Manager to join our Facilities Management team at Royal London Hospital.


As part of this role you’ll maximise the value achieved from contracted maintenance resources by efficiently and effectively managing the contractors whilst they are on site. You’ll also ensure that they are working safely and are adhering to Skanska processes and codes of conduct.




Provide support to the Estates Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the RLH.


Ensure that specialist subcontractors are properly managed whilst on site such that they comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including adhering to Health and Safety legislation and in accordance with Health Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health Building Notifications (HBN).


This will include:-


  • Meeting and Greeting Arranging access to areas including liaising with hospital ward staff where appropriate Issuing of temporary passes
  • Reviewing risk assessments and method statements
  • Arrange site escort and assist where required including appropriate isolations as and when required
  • Ensure contractors have appropriate PPE, tools etc
  • Be aware of any restrictions on the day i.e. other work which may impact on the work that the contractors are undertaking
  • Ensure that the skills and competencies of contract resources are appropriate to need
  • Specifically ensure that checks on the competencies of contract labour are sufficient to assure they are fit to undertake the work on which they will be deployed
  • Ensure that any contract provider under performance is corrected
  • To manage the issue of permits to both Skanska employees and specialist sub-contractors, ensuring that the Permit Process is followed at all time, forward planning which permits are required and a time at which they will be issued


We're looking for:


  • 3 years previous experience of working within a building services environment
  • Basic knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH
  • Good computer literacy skills
  • NVQ level 2 or City & Guilds plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience
