Senior Architect

The Senior Architect is responsible to lead the architectural effort on pursuits and projects. This role involves project management, client interaction and presentations, fee estimating, proposal writing, architectural design, specification writing, construction estimating, leading other architects and designers on projects, quality and coordination reviews, and coordination with other engineering disciplines on projects. This role may also involve mentoring less experienced architects and architectural designers. Reports to the Architectural Discipline Lead.

What you’ll do:

• Listen to our clients’ needs and independently provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle costs
• Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary
• Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements
• Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed
• Work across PCI Skanska groups as well as Midwest construction to pursue project opportunities
• Work with clients and contractors to identify and develop projects from initial identification, proposal development, and evaluation through installation and measurement and verification
• Mentor team members to develop additional strengths and competencies within the group
• Work as a lead on project teams over other technical staff, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated and that the quality assurance measures have been followed
• Will be an ambassador of the firm to the public
• Provide the technical assessment of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions and the development proposed architectural fees
• Provide designs involving the industry trend related to quantitative analysis, sustainable practices and green technology
• Develop and refine architectural methodologies, tools, and standards
• Stay abreast of relevant industry developments and technology advancements
• Ensure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverables
• Ensure that our architectural designs conform to the applicable code requirements

Qualifications and Preferences
• Must have a minimum of a BS in Architecture
• Must be a licensed Architect
• Must have and a minimum of 8 years of relevant design experience
• Must have experience with pharmaceutical/clean room design
• Must have experience with advanced technology industry projects (Life Sciences) such as R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition, and/or consumer products
• Experience with industrial and manufacturing facility projects is preferred
• LEED Accredited Professional is preferred
• Experience working on Design–Build teams as an Architect is preferred
• Knowledge of cGMPs is preferred

Work Environment/Job Conditions

This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems and conditions is required. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
