The Safety Engineer assists with project safety according to the EHS Manual for the specific project. S/he leads supports and provides leadership on EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) related topics for the assigned project(s) by assisting and collaborating with the project team members. The Safety Engineer reports to the EHS Director in a matrix organizational structure. S/he must be a team player and have strong organizational and communication skills to help the area teams accomplish the project objectives by providing safety support and guidance.
What You’ll Do:
  • Provide education on all Environmental, Health and Safety related aspects to the field operations team,
  • Conduct worksite safety inspections to ensure compliance with applicable, federal, state, local, and Skanska EHS Manual requirements,
  • Develop solutions to issues based on the hierarchy of risk control and influence field operations team on implementation,
  • Communicate issues, trends, and recommendations to the Director of EHS,
  • Coordinate and review EHS submittals for all contractors,
  • Provide education on and assist in the preparation of  Construction Work Plans for project activities as required,
  • Develop and conduct EHS trainings such as Project Orientations, Tool Box Talks, etc.,
  • Perform project internal audits,
  • Correct any safety policy/procedure violation immediately,
  • Conduct on all incident investigations, in order to determine the root cause of the incident and identify corrective and preventive action plans.
We’re Looking For:
  • Degree (BS),
  • OSHA 30,
  • First Aid & CPR with AED Certification,
  • Excellent communication ability,
  • Excellent proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook,
  • Notable proficiency in technical report writing, record keeping and organizational skills.
