We are looking for a Premises Assistant to join our Building Services team in Bristol working in a small caretaking team to ensure the safe, secure ad effective operation of the respective school.

  • Contribute to the smooth running of the School by carrying out a range of duties including security and supervision of the sites and related equipment. To complete planned and reactive maintenance and other duties including porterage and cleaning.
  • To cover early and late shifts as required on a rotational basis.
  • To carry out maintenance as determined by line manager and Skanska’s CAFM system.
  • To follow systems relating to utility meter reading and monitoring
  • Support the school and comply with school based procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage, Ensuring that all areas within the confines of the site are free from litter and that all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean. 
  • Take delivery of stores, materials and other goods and conveying them to their points of distribution
  • Prepare the school premises and site for assemblies, meetings and out of school activities and clearing up after these activities.
  • Be responsible for routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds. Respond to calls outside normal working hours as a result of break-ins etc. and/or the setting off of the burglar alarm(s).
  • Ensure safe access and egress on school grounds during periods of inclement weather. 
  • Be available for ongoing evening events and have the flexibility to cover emergencies which may arise
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by the Premises Manager
We’re looking for:
  • Good knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience of building maintenance and systems is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working on HVAC equipment is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of lone working
  • IOSH working safely
  • DBS (CRB) enhanced clearance will be required for the role
