IT Infrastructure Specialist - Cloud Services


Skanska UK is looking for a Cloud Services Specialist based at our Head Office in Maple Cross who will be responsible for the overall strategy, architecture, design and support of complex cloud enabled systems. 


We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter and a change agent with experience and desire to drive Skanska UK to be a successful on the cutting edge of Cloud Technologies. 


The Cloud specialist will ensure the technical direction of applications and solutions both within and across infrastructure silos that are strongly aligned with the business strategy. Candidates should have exceptional communication skills, ensuring consistent working practices, managing escalations and defining and implementing appropriate processes and documentation.

We're looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience in architecting and designing technical solutions for Microsoft centric solutions based on industry standards using Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities. 
  • Hands-on experience across data, compute, storage, network, containerization, security and database capabilities in Azure and (AWS desirable).
  • Hands-on experience in moving IaaS workloads using Re-hosting or Re-factoring migration approach.
  • Knowledge of Cloud cost optimization techniques. Experience in one or more automation languages (CLI, Python, Ruby, PowerShell).
  • Working knowledge of config management tools (Chef, Puppet or Ansible) and knowledge of cloud monitoring tools, application performance monitoring tools and operational dash-boarding.
  • Experience designing for disaster recovery, hybrid cloud storage, backup and archival.
  • Exposure to Office 365, Oracle ERP Cloud or AWS would be desirable.
  • Experience in an infrastructure architecture role in areas like but not limited to hosting, storage, network, Hyper V, VMware, tools and application platforms would be desirable.
