Ecology Advisor - HS2 Enabling Works




We are looking for an ecology advisor on a permanent term contract to work on HS2 Enabling Works as part of the Works Package team for Environment and Ecology surveys. As the ecology advisor you shall assist in the coordination and delivery of ecology surveys the results of which are used to influence the design and build of the HS2 scheme.


The ecology advisor shall support and assist the larger Works Package team - being afforded the opportunity to work closely with specialists in the areas of ecology, soils, and arboriculture - delivering environment and ecology surveys across HS2 enabling works.


As an ecology advisor you shall assist the Works Package Manager as well as the ecology, soils and arboriculture specialists in liaison between the Works Packages and the larger environment team across the project. The ecology advisor shall report to the Works Package Manager but be managed as part of the core environment team. The ecology advisor may also be given tasks directly by the ecology, soils and arboriculture specialists.


In addition to the above there is also an opportunity for the ecology advisor to work as part of the larger environment team gaining experience while supporting environmental professionals in the disciplines of carbon, noise, air quality, and waste management (amongst others). 


We’re looking for :


  • Coordinating ecology, soil, and arboriculture surveys;

  • Supporting specialists in producing deliverables to submit to HS2;

  • Liaising with Works Packages to determine surveys and provide information relating to the three specialist areas to enable further works;

  • Liaise with HS2 and associated contracts to ensure that CSJV deliver the enabling works efficiently particularly in the area of ecology;

  • Assisting the ecology, soils, and arboriculture specialist in drafting documents to submit to HS2


  • Background degree in environment (desirable)

  • Background degree (or degree modules) in ecology or related disciplines (desirable)
