Construction Manager – HS2 Enabling Works

 

We are looking for a Construction Manager for our HS2 Enabling Works Contract to manage a team of site agents and supervise the work carried out on site by our sub-contractors, materials, plant, and transport. The Construction Manager will ensure quality, safety, profitability and client/customer satisfaction taking a lead role in the planning and scheduling of work and building excellent relationships with stakeholders.

 

You’ll:

  • Carry out the day to day supervision of the site agents in accordance with company requirements, ensuring the workflow is managed efficiently.
  • Ensure site agents are completing observation cards / receiving tool box talks & briefings
  • Work closely with the Consents team (NRSWA New Roads & Street Works Act) and Traffic Management team to ensure we can maintain our planned schedule of works.
  • Ensure reinstatements are done correctly, working closely with the commercial team to ensure all variations are agreed
  • Submit weekly track sheets for inputting to the Project Manager to enable the programme tracker to be updated in line with the with Contract requirements.
  • Liaise with Highway Authorities, clients and stakeholders at site level, building excellent working relationships with all key stakeholders and attending meetings as required.
  • Ensure there is a CPP (construction Phase plan) in place which is up to date, reviewed and approved, and communicated to Contractors. Ensure that this CPP is understood and followed, and updated on site.
  • Ensure there is a PWP (project work plan) Including ITP’s (inspection test plans) in place which is up to date, reviewed and approved, and communicated to Contractors. Ensure that this PWP (including ITP’s) is understood and followed on site.
  • Ensure there is an Environmental Management Plan in place which is up to date, reviewed and approved and communicated to Contractors. Ensure that this Environmental Management Plan is understood and followed on site.
  • Ensure Site Specific Inductions are carried out to all visitors / delivery personnel.
  • Monitor and audit works through Health and Safety (SHEWQ) inspections.
  • Carry out Risk Assessments when the scope / environment changes and these risks are then included within the pre-start briefings before commencing works.
  • Review and approve Supply Chain Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

We’re looking for:

  • Project management experience with ability to communicate and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders (essential)
  • Analytical and problem solving skills / experience (essential)
  • CSCS (essential)
  • Previous utilities experience (desirable)
  • Authorising Engineer for permit to dig for excavations (desirable)
  • NRSWA Supervisor / UMSTS / SMSTS (desirable)
